Channel Letters are individually illuminated letters and are generally associated with storefront fascias.

There are three different types of channel letters, the most common being Standard Channel Letters. These letters are made up of a U-channel base, with colored acrylic or plexiglas faces and a trimcap lining around the edge.

Reverse Channel Letters have metal faces and returns (sides of letters) but are open on the side facing the wall. These letters are designed to be mounted an inch or two away from the wall. At night, the neon in the back of the letter creates a halo-lit effect.

The third type of Channel Letters is Open-face Channel Letters. This type has no face on the front of each letter, allowing for the neon illumination to be seen, as well as the inside of the letterform itself. Open Face Channel Letters are very effective for aggressively grabbing attention.
